Proverbs 13, Proverbs Series
What fuels the life of a disciplined or wise person? What are the outcomes or rewards as well as the legacy of that kind of life? Paul Koptak reminds us: “These Proverbs [chapter 13] charge us to examine our desires, not only because they direct our lives [the fuel the embraces discipline] but also because they will be fulfilled. If our deepest desire is to live wisely, we will have it, and if we wish to live in what the wise call folly, we will have that as well.”- Paul Koptak, Proverbs, NIV Application Commentary, (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2003), 366. These rewards or outcomes of living wisely, receiving instruction and correction, which is what biblical wisdom is about, or foolishly, not only shape our destiny but become the legacy we pass on to others.
