1 Peter 1:1-12
Simon Peter understood the grace of God because of how powerfully he himself had experienced it. Peter could easily recall his bravado, the night in which Jesus was betrayed and his own denial and absolute failure. Years later, Peter is far wiser and humbler can encourage and strengthen those walking in life’s most challenging moments. How do we handle the challenges and consequences of our own sinful choices? How do we handle those things that happen in our life that we have no control over? Disease or tragic accidents that leave us forever changed? How do we handle life’s disappointments, injustices, and persecutions? Or dealing with false accusations that cost you a job? Or worse, the loss of a significant relationship? For many living today, the issue is living in this hour where anxiety rests just below the surface. We are living in a restricted time, with minimal human contact and support? How can we re-discover joy in life’s most painful moments? These are all elements that Peter is writing to address. He desires to encourage, strengthen, comfort, and instruct fellow believers walking through some very challenging moments in their lives. Let’s pray that people come to genuine faith in Christ and are strengthened and encouraged through this challenging time in all of our lives.
